The Chapbook

Carved

I carved my name in the the EarthAnd they kicked me outRobbed me of my dignityAnd expelled me from the place that I call homeThey assaulted meWith their wordsAnd their actionsThey broke my legsAnd twisted my armsThey gouged my eyes outAnd ripped my heart outThey left me out in the heatBut they did not kill meThey could not kill meAnd slowlySlowlyI re-grew those limbs that I lostAnd I found beautiful creaturesAs lost and hurt as I wasAnd we banded togetherUnited in our shared visionIn our shared hopeOf a better worldAnd togetherWe will return to our homesAnd make them ours againI will carve my nameOn to their chestsSo that they never forget
