How my Body is Beautiful

  • body

For those of you who thinkFat=UndesirableI have one thing to sayFuck youBecause beneath the valleys of my skinAnd the hills of my breastsIs sheathed a radiant spiritA singing symphony that is my soulA being that loves passionatelyFeels deeplyAnd knows trulyKnows that your attempt to claim my bodyTo take it and sayThis is uglyShall always be unsuccessfulA fruitless attempt of futilityBecause I won’t let youBecause I know that I am beautifulAnd desirableAnd worthy of loveI know that the girth of my bellyIs that of the Mother GoddessSo that I may nurture my communityThat the thickness of my thighsAre as majestic as the thickness of the Red Wood TreeSo that I may stand strong against oppressionThat the broadness of my backHas the strength of Atlas himselfSo that I may shoulder the burdens given to meAnd you might not see thatMight see past the might of my armsAnd the softness of my handsAnd see only what you call“ugly”And that’s okBecause my body, my soulIs also a mirrorAnd when you see past meYou see only into yourself
