The Chapbook

Read

  • love

Every timeThose double checks Go blue From greyMy heart skips She read my missive Words hurled to a server Half way between usBeamed to your consciousnessThrough the light emitting diodes on your screen The only way I have to touch you

What does it mean To be consumedBy longing The days measured In the seconds till I Can see you next Holding myself Just soTo not fall apart The Neosporin spurts ForcefullyAnd I think of you

Yearning is an art Dancing with this acheThis absence This incessant negative space that Is you shaped A toothache Of the worst kind What’s Morgan up to? Oh missing her girlfriend

Love sick loonCircumstance Forcing distanceAnd I must content myselfWith pictures, WhatsApp Our life line Rereading 2 am texts Scripture At its most sacred Remembering how you feelHolding me Stretching meEngulfing me The city teems But lacks your connection

How do I finish this poem?Distance still cuts There is no substituteFor skin on flesh And Your scent on my breath And Your love inside me And Hips swishingKitchen lights dancing Beats bumping from the back room My wide hands curling your hips close Kisses on the back Weight beneath meReposed
