The Chapbook

Enough

  • rage
  • race & colonization

I am fucking pissedPissed that I am the legacy of a 400 years ofColonialismSlaveryAnd GenocidePissed that after 400 hundred yearsIt hasn’t gone awayIt’s just disguised itself in a million different formsLike youth of color being pushed out of their schoolsOr communities of color being microcolonized by gentrificationOr how I can’t walk down the street without some asshole thinking that because I’m prettyAnd brownThat I should be his whenever he wantsOr that I have to yellAnd screamAnd stamp my feetAnd get upsetBefore white queers will listen to what I have to sayOr how people can make racist jokesAnd pass it off as not racistOr how when I say enough is enoughAnd I claim a space for my ownAnd I stop letting white people’s privilege slide uncheckedThey call me racistI’m fucking pissedAnd I am done apologizing for it!I have a right to my angerAnd sorrowI have wounds that will probably never healAnd fuck you if you can’t deal with thatFuck you if that makes you upsetFuck you if you can’t handle my angerBecause while you can just walk awayAnd ignore itINeverCan
